Middle School Math Teacher 2013 - Present

Korea International School, Pangyo, South Korea

  • Taught a combination of Math 6, Math 6 Accelerated, and Math 7 classes that were aligned with the Common Core State Standards.
  • Used “flipped teaching” and “blended learning” to accommodate different learning styles and differentiate my teaching.
  • Created my own Youtube Channel (Anywhere Math) that includes over 80 videos, around 20,000 subscribers, and views of over two million from students all over the world.
  • Researched, developed, and implemented a 6th grade experiential education trip to the southeast coast of Korea. The three day/two night trip included hiking, mushroom farming, traditional Korean drumming, Buddhist meditation, and a visit to a local animal rehabilitation center.
  • Co-led a week long international experiential education trip to Thailand with 63 grade eight students over spring break. Also chaperoned a similar week long trip to Fiji for 6th and 7th grade students.
  • Represented the Math Department in leadership meetings as the Math Department Head for the past two years.
  • Developed and implemented a standards-based grading system to make the math department’s grades more accurate and descriptive.
  • Created and executed a Math Olympics competition that has attracted over 60 students each of the last three years.
  • Provided multiple external math competition opportunities to middle school students that included the AMC 8 and Math League.
  • Ran many popular school clubs, including Puzzles, Tricks, and Magic Club, Cooking Club, Movie-Making Club, Video Editing Club, and Photoshop Club.


6th Grade Math Teacher 2011 - 2013

Colegio Bolivar, Cali, Colombia

  • Taught four classes of 6th grade math and one accommodations class for students who needed more one on one support.
  • Completely revised the entire middle school “house” system to create more school spirit and enthusiasm.
  • Mentored a group of 6th grade presidents and vice presidents to become leaders and better represent their individual houses.
  • Helped revise current standards to better address students’ needs.
  • Attended all grade level, department, middle school, 6th grade student council, and middle school student council meetings.


Middle School ESL Teacher 2008 - 2010

Tae Jang Middle School, Suwon, South Korea

  • Co-taught on average 20 classes of 40 students each, per week, emphasizing speaking and listening.
  • Taught extra classes after school for both struggling and advanced students.
  • Planned, organized, and taught two weeks of “English Camp” during summer and winter vacations.
